Burger King Premium Kuro Burger

As part of a "contrary to common sense" or "absurd" 非常識 campaign to celebrate 5 years in Japan, Burger King will begin offering a Premium Kuro Burger from Sept 28th. Kuro means black and this new Whopper size sandwich will have a black bun and a special ketchup sauce containing garlic and squid ink to turn it black. Squid ink is a common ingredient in Japanese food, just as it is in Italian food. 黒バーガー

Asahi Shunkan Pione Chuhai

For the fall Asahi is selling a version of its Shunkan Chuhai line of canned mixed drinks, which uses Japanese Pione grapes. Chuhai is traditionally a mixture of Japanese distilled shochu and fruit juice.

Tsuyu つゆ is a dipping sauce (for noodles) and is also used in pot-boiled dishes. It is made from mirin, soy sauce and dashi. This tsuyu uses agodashi which is dashi (soup stock) made using Japanese flying fish (ago あご 飛魚) .
