FamilyMart Collaboration‏

FamilyMart is collaborating with two award winning restaurants (one in Tokyo and the other in Osaka) to bring spaghetti products inspired by the restaurants to FamilyMart stores. In collaboration with Tabelog (a Japanese food and dining social site) they are conducting voting to choose the exact dishes that will be sold.

Morinaga Lipton Extra Shot

Morinaga is promoting Lipton Extra Shot chilled cup drinks by giving away French BOUL'MICH (ブールミッシュ) sweets or St.Cousair (サンクゼール) jam to 1,000 people who enter by typing in an ID hidden under a sticker on each package. Lipton Extra Shot has won Monde Selection (もんドセレクション) and iTQi product awards for taste.

Coca Cola Schweppes Introduction‏

Coca Cola is introducing Schweppes to Japan with a campaign featuring Pierce Brosnan and emphasizing its British origins and adult taste. British Lemon Tonic is written on the label.

Circle K Tohoku Rice Harvesting Trip

Circle K Sunkus, in coordination with JA, is giving away trips to the Tohoku region to experience local rice harvesting. Twenty adult-elementary student pairs will win the trip (2 days, 1 night) to Miyagi Prefecture. This is part of revitalization efforts to encourage travel to and consumption of goods from the area most heavily effected by the disaster last year.

Tully's Ballpark Hot Dog‏

For the summer, Tully's is offering a Ballpark Hot Dog with Avocado and Beef Pastrami. I have never seen a hot dog like this at any ballpark, but it sure does look good.

Asahi Off Giveaway‏

Asahi Off is a happoshu beer with 85% less purine (low purine diets have been connected with weight loss) and 70% less sugar. Asahi is giving away cases of this beer to 10 people. Registration on Asahi's website is required.

Sapporo Hopbatake no Kaori Beer‏

Sapporo is making a limited edition happoshu beer called Hopbatake no Kaori (ホップ畑の香り) or Aroma of a Hop Field. It is only being produced in 2012 and only in a limited volume. It advertises the use of "Furano Beauty" hops grown in Furano City, Hokkaido. It also advertises the use of a "fresh aroma production process" (フレッシュアロマ製法), but a quick search did not turn up any related patents.

Sunkus Big Croquette Sandwich‏

This photo was posted on Facebook by Circle K Sunkus Convenience Stores. Looks like something I might buy, eat and then immediately regret. At first it appears to be an oversized, artery clogging hamburger, but then you see it is actually a croquette sandwich - meaning lots of bread and potato. Therefore, the hit you take is more from simple carbohydrates than fat.
