Miso is a traditional fermented mix of soybeans, barley, rice and salt. It is used for flavoring, by adding it to soups for example, or it can be directly spread on foods. So people buy big buckets full of it, like this 750 g package. The label says that it has added katsuo (shaved tuna) and kombu for a rich umami flavor.
