Morinaga Pringles

With the end of a contract and the sale of Pringles by Procter and Gamble to Kellogg, the handling of Pringles in Japan will move from Meiji to Morinaga as of January. This is part of Morinaga's strategy to expand their snack business by 2 to 3 times over 5 years.

Lotte Hershey's Ice Cream

Hershey's can be found in Japan as an ice cream brand sold by Lotte. Pictured is a new Hershey's brownie sandwich which went on sale Oct 15th. Lotte also sells one crunchy Hershey's chocolate bar, but not the iconic milk chocolate bar found in the US.

Mister Donut Pork Ramen

This new addition to the Mister Donut San Francisco Chinatown lineup is ramen with added slices of marinated pork. Looks delicious, but probably has a much stronger taste than the rest of the lineup.

For fruit flavored ice sticks and fruit flavored ice cream, Dole goes through Lotte in Japan. As previously mentioned, for fruit drinks they go through Snow Brand MegMilk and for yogurt they go through Kyodo Milk.

Mister Donut San Francisco Chinatown

The second big factor in Mister Donut's success in Japan I would have to say is the "San Francisco Chinatown" or "Mister Yamucha" in Japanese menu selection. This turns a donut shop into a restaurant and the Chinese ramen and yamucha goes surprisingly well with donuts. The most important aspect of this is that parents can go to a Mister Donuts with their kids, get some real food, a donut and good coffee (with free refills). You clearly see more people enter Mister Donut shops as groups and stay longer than you would otherwise. 飲茶

Lotte Uru Up Collagen Drink

This drink is honey and ginger flavored and contains 5,000mg of collagen. As with most such drinks in Japan, the claim is made as much the product name as possible. Uru is short for Uruoi 潤い and is a word frequently used to describe good skin condition although most dictionaries usually just say moisture. By changing uruoi to uru up, they imply that your skin condition will improve or go "up". うるアップコラーゲン、ロッテ

Lotte Ice Cream Vending Machines

I found this somewhat unusual, but interesting. Lotte shows their two varieties of ice cream vending machine on their website, plus the varieties of ice cream that go in the machines. Not only do most companies not bother detailing what vending machines they use, but the turnover and variety of products in most Japanese vending machines usually makes detailing what products are in them next to impossible. ロッテ、自動販売機
