Ajinomoto Club Ajirei 1st Anniversary‏

Ajinomoto is giving away product exclusively to members of its Club Ajirei (short for Ajinomoto ReitoShokuhin (冷凍食品) or Frozen Food) to celebrate the club's 1st Anniversary. The Club Ajirei sends out information on recipes, promotions to members and also allows them to bookmark favorite recipes.

CBC - Quirks and Quarks Q&A Road Show‏

Last weekend there was one of Quirks and Quarks always enjoyable Q&A road show. One of the questions was about caffeine and chocolate. A brief, but interesting, discussion on caffeine and chocolate was given by a university professor including why caffeine is present at all - defense.

Ajinomoto Calpis Butter Giveaway

Ajinomoto held a giveaway of frozen (heat and eat) bakery products in a collaboration with Calpis to promote their butter, which they claim is the closest to real French butter on the Japanese market.

Kirin Frozen Ichiban Shibori Beer - Very Interesting

Kirin is advertising a new summer beer concept using its best selling beer - Kirin Ichiban Shibori (キリン一番搾り). It is called frozen beer, but is actually a patented process where the beer foam is frozen and then used to top the beer as if it were soft ice cream. They claim it provides a new mouth feel and keeps the beer cold for 30 minutes. They are conducting a campaign to giveaway special units to prepare to beer at home and they are setting up special Frozen Gardens in major cities where the frozen beer can be found.

Not sure how successful it will be, but probably one of the most interesting ideas of the year.

Starbucks Kyoto Matcha Latte‏

Starbucks has renewed its Matcha Latte product and renamed it Kyoto Matcha Latte. The news release mentions wanting a Japanese image for the product, but does not mention where the matcha will be sourced. I assume it will be Kyoto green tea.

Burger King Chicken Collection

Burger King has introduced a new chicken collection which includes a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and a Roast Chicken Sandwich. I do not see a time limit and I don't know if the chicken patties actually are formed into the shape of a rooster or not (as in the image).
